In major solar tax credit news, the federal government has officially ended the Residential Clean Energy Credit (Section 25D) as part of the 2025 budget bill signed on July 4, 2025. This bill confirms that the federal solar tax credit, currently 30% for qualifying residential systems, will no longer be available starting in 2026. There will be no phase-out. Homeowners must have their systems installed and commissioned by December 31, 2025, to receive the full credit.
