Project Summary
We were hired to install a 5.4 kW solar photovoltaic system on a newly constructed home in Fountaingrove, Santa Rosa. The system features high-efficiency solar panels paired with Enphase microinverters to optimize energy production and provide individual panel-level monitoring. Our goal was to seamlessly integrate a reliable, high-performance solar system into the new construction, helping the homeowner reduce long-term electricity costs while benefiting from clean, renewable energy.
Our Approach
Our approach was to install the solar mounting standoffs directly onto the bare plywood roof decking before the roofing underlayment and shingles were installed. This allowed us to properly seal each attachment point beneath the new roofing materials, creating multiple layers of protection against water intrusion. By coordinating the solar installation with the roofers, we were able to achieve a superior watertight installation compared to conventional methods that require penetrating an already completed roof. This proactive approach helps protect the home's structural integrity while ensuring a durable, reliable solar installation for years to come.
Challenges
This was a very straightforward installation, completely custom work with all wiring in the attic and behind drywall. No real challenges.
