Our Approach
With the client installing a new roof, it provided the ideal opportunity to implement the best possible approach for mounting the solar hardware. Our method involved installing the standoffs directly onto the bare plywood decking and sealing each penetration with Chemlink M1 caulking. Once completed, the roofing contractor installed the underlayment, followed by flashing each footing as the new composition shingles were installed around and over the standoffs.
This process positions the footings beneath multiple layers of roofing material, creating a superior waterproofing barrier and delivering one of the most secure and watertight installation methods available.
Challenges
The steep pitch of this roof presented one of the greatest challenges of the entire project. From carrying panels to routing electrical conduit and wiring, every stage of the installation required extra care, precision, and physical endurance. Between the 50-pound weight of each panel, the constant strain on the body from the roof’s angle, and the intense heat of the sun overhead, it made for a demanding installation from start to finish.
But at the end of the day, this is exactly the kind of work we thrive on and are passionate about.
